Frequently Asked Questions
Please contact us with any questions we haven’t answered.
What type of research will I be doing?
You will most likely be conducting outcomes research, which focuses on the end results of patients at a hospital. Based on the patients’ information and their treatment journeys, we can determine the effectiveness of the health care system.
What are some benefits of joining for students?
There are so many benefits to joining! Here are a few, but you can find more in the About Us section:
- learn about cancers and health-related topics
- gain research experience
- present at conferences
- help doctors organize information that they would not have been able to otherwise
- highlight important patient outcomes cases
How can the projects support cancer research?
The projects that students complete as part of Carroll CARES provide information about the cancer, the patient, and the hospital’s treatment. This helps doctors and hospitals understand what can be improved in the future, and may provide insight into cancer mechanisms. Many patients actually want their stories to be told, especially if their disease isn’t common, and our projects help advocate for these patients.
